AMY & NICK | CORNISH GARDEN WEDDING | SALTASH, CORNWALL

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of shooting Amy & Nick's wonderful Cornish garden wedding. This is a day that I'll remember for a long, long time. I honestly can't think of a more relaxed and friendly couple than this pair…I actually think Nick was more concerned about my wellbeing than he was his own all day!

The day started out with the threat of severe wind and rain throughout, but the scene which met the guests and I when we arrived at the church was one of glorious Cornish sunshine, with the odd looming rain cloud overhead. The possibility of showers couldn't dampen anybody's mood though, and everyone remained smiling and laughing throughout the ceremony and reception.

Amy looked absolutely stunning in her mid-length polka-dotted dress, which was enhanced with the beautiful red bow, and which complemented the very handsomely dressed Nick's tie and shoelaces brilliantly! Colour coordinated shoelaces…umm awesome or what?! Her three bridesmaids all looked equally stunning in their vibrant red dresses and elegant headpieces.

The reception was held at Amy's parents' house, just a short walk down the lane from the church. It was so refreshing to see the bride and groom laughing and chatting with their guests as they strolled along hand in hand and newly wed!

The venue itself was just gorgeous, the garden was bursting with colour in all directions and the marquee and boat shed had been decorated in beautiful, rustic colours and textures. The guests were greeted on arrival with Cornish pasties and a choice of Pimms or Tribute Ale and the sound of a live banjo being played happily in the background.

One of the highlights of the day for me, and I'm sure for a few others, has to be Nick's speech. To say that it was funny is such an understatement. He was in his element, like a jester holding court, recounting old tales and jokes with ease, all of which were met with huge belly laughs and applause from absolutely everyone.

The reception meal was a delicious hog roast, which was supplied by the fabulous Simply Spit Roasts, and was accompanied by a variety of homemade salads and side dishes. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, dessert was the choice of approximately 15 cakes and sweet treats, which had been beautifully made by numerous friends and family members.

Seeing Amy and Nick enjoy themselves so wholeheartedly with their gorgeous young son, Henry, and their closest friends and family was a real honour and I drove away from the house feeling as though I had gained two new friends of my own.

Amy and Nick, thank you so much for asking me to be part of your magical day.
